Honor Societies

National Junior Honor Society

National Junior Honor Society is the nation’s premiere organization established to recognize outstanding middle school students.  Students in seventh and eighth grade are selected who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Service, Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Citizenship.  Students apply in January after the first semester and those selected by the faculty council are inducted in a ceremony at the end of January.  Students participate in a variety of service activities throughout the school year.

Spanish Honor Society

The Spanish Honor Society was formed in 2004 under the umbrella organization of the Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Ascension was fortunate to be selected as the first elementary/middle  school in the country to receive a chapter. Spanish Honor Society membership is offered to students who have completed the first semester of eighth grade Spanish and meet the following criteria:
-have scored a 95% or above on any assignment during the 8th grade year of study,
-have maintained an overall excellent academic record,
-have satisfactory conduct, and have no grade lower than 85% in any subject.

Students are inducted into the Spanish Honor Society during Catholic Schools Week.
