Ascension’s Cross Country team exists to help students develop their skill and stamina as runners, while promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Currently, Ascension’s program has two divisions. The first is for students in grades two through four. The older division is for students in grades five through eight. Practices take place at Ascension and students only run where they are constantly monitored. Teams hold formal practices at least once a week and runners should be committed to additional running on their own time. This schedule provides needed flexibility as many students participate in a variety of sports and other extracurricular activities. The runners should bring their own water/sports drink, sneakers, and proper athletic wear. The practices will run from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.
Meets are scheduled with other local Catholic schools and will consist of 2 mile runs on grass or trails. Scores will not be kept, as the goal of this program is to encourage students to do their personal best.
Parents should log in to the Ascension Edline page for current information on schedules, contact information and more.
All questions should be directed to the Athletic Director, who can be contacted through the school office.
