This school year we will host two Ascension Chess Club Competitions to allow Ascension students to have experience an in-house tournament environment. These tournaments will be held on Nov 23, 2009 and March 22, 2010 during the regular Chess Club times. The Ascension Chess Club Competition is open to all students, even if you do not regularly attend the chess club.
Students are encouraged to come to practice as time allows. Join in at anytime!
The local area Space Coast Scholastic Chess Club has monthly sponsored tournaments in Brevard County. Though not required, it is a wonderful experience for students to practice their skills with other students in the area. To participate in the local tournaments, membership is required in the United States Chess Federation . The fees are nominal. The next Scholastic tournament is Oct. 24, 2009 at Southwest Middle School.
