The Hair Cut by Tristan - Sixth Grade

CLIP, CLIP! That’s the sound of my hair being cut. I will never forget the first time I got my on-purpose hair cut.

I was just at my Grandmother’s house, happily doing some chores. I was cleaning the windows and vacuuming the carpet. It was a beautiful day outside and I wished I was out there, playing with my friends. My peaceful vision of my friends disappeared when my father called me. I thought he would shout, “Tristen, get back to doing chores! You’re almost done!” But instead, he said calmly, “Come on Tristen, let’s go!” I was very happy that we were leaving, because I really disliked doing chores. I quickly said good-bye to my Grandmother and got into my father’s car. As we were driving I noticed that we weren’t going the same way we usually go. I excitedly asked my father, “Where are we going?” Most of the time, when we go a different way, it means something special is going to happen. He answered back in a calm tone, “To the hair cut store.”

When we got there, I told my father about a million times that I did not want my hair to be cut too short. I had to wait about five minutes to get my hair cut, but it seemed like two seconds. I was about to tell my dad to tell the hair-cutters that I did not want my hair cut a lot, but when I looked at him, he sort of gave me a stare that told me to be quiet. Then, a tall, young lady called me to come with her. My father said it was fine, so I followed the lady to a very large looking sink. I was relieved that it was not time to get my hair cut yet. She motioned for me to sit in a large chair that was leaned all the way back, so it was just barley touching the big sink. When I sat down, she started to wash my hair. It felt very good and relaxing. When she was done, she dried my hair and led me to another big chair. This chair was next to a row of scissors and combs. I started to get scared and worried because now I knew she was going to cut my hair. As she was cutting, I started to cry because I saw so much hair on the floor. She was still cutting. I just kept on crying and crying.

When she was done cutting my hair, she gave me a small mirror to see how my hair looked. I was still crying, but not as heavily. When I looked in the mirror, though, I noticed that my hair looked great! My bangs were aligned and everything! I stopped crying and smiled. I kindly thanked my hair cutter and walked over to my father expecting a, “See! Now that wasn’t so bad!” or, “I knew that you would like the cut!” But instead, he just said, “Thank-you” to my hair cutter, and led me to the car with a smile on his face.

Well, there you have it! So my first hair cut was not my favorite. Oh, well. Now I have a good story to tell about it. And guess what, now I love to get hair cuts! I guess all I have to say about this story is that you shouldn’t fuss the next time you get a hair cut!

The Haunted House by Tristan - Sixth Grade

I woke up with a fake spider in my face. “Wake up Tristen! It’s Halloween!” someone yelled. I cracked open my eyes to see my annoying sister in front of me holding a fake hairy spider close to my nose. I brushed it to the floor and sat up in my bed. “Go away Paula,” I said hoarsely to her. She frowned briefly then scooped up her spider and walked away happily, probably thinking of how I’m such a crab in the mornings and of the hot pancakes waiting for her in the kitchen. I got up slowly and strode to the bathroom to brush my teeth and get ready for the morning. When I opened the door I found that dumb black spider on my tooth brush. I picked it up and set it on top of the sink. When I was done in the bathroom I walked to my room to get ready for the day. As I was getting ready I remembered that today was the Halloween party at my friend’s house. Then I got changed into my purple witch costume.

After breakfast, I got into the car to go to the party. I asked my mom if I could stay at my friend’s house to go trick or treating. She said that I could, but I had to be back home at ten thirty. Finally, I got to the house where the party was. I said goodbye to my mom and hello to the friend who was hosting the party, Brianna. “Wow! I love your Halloween costume!” Brianna said cheerfully, looking at my purple velvet witch costume. She invited me into her house along with a couple of her friends. When I got into her house, I was amazed at how large and decorated it was. Everywhere I looked I saw multi colored lights and candy. It was so cool and so much fun!

After the party, I stayed a bit longer to help clean up and to go trick or treating with Bri. A couple of her friends were also going to trick or treat with us. I knew them both from school. Their names were Paige and another Bri. As we got ready to go, Bri’s mother said that we could go alone, but we needed to stick together. She also gave us a cell phone to carry along in case something happened to us. When we were all done getting candy, we started to walk home. Then, I saw a really big mansion and I pleaded my friends to go to one last house before we went home. I thought that they must have really big candy bars there and I had just eaten my last one. That was my worst mistake yet.

I approached the door quietly and rang the door bell. After a couple minutes I yelled, “Trick or treat!” but there was no answer. The wind blew hard and then the door opened. Bri screeched. Terrified, I spun around to see Bri on the muddy floor. “Sorry, I slipped,” she squeaked sheepishly. I rolled my eyes and turned back to the door. Then another strong wind whistled and the door creaked all the way open and somehow all of us were pulled inside. We all hit the floor with a thud. “Ow!” Paige said loudly. After that, there were moans and groans from all of us falling on the hard wood floor. Suddenly, it started to rain. We all decided to stay in the house until the rain lightened up. A little while later we all fell asleep.

When I woke up, it was raining even harder and it was very dark. I woke everyone up and asked who had the cell phone. Bri said that she had it, but it must have fallen off when she slipped outside. I sighed and looked out the window. It was still really dark and it was pouring rain. I froze, I heard footsteps. It was coming closer. I stayed very still, and then the footsteps stopped. I was being scared out of my wits! I looked back at my friends to tell them that everything was going to be all right, but they were not there. I walked to the side of the house and looked around. I couldn’t find anyone. I was really scared, so I decided to go to sleep again hoping this was all a dream.

When I woke up, I found that I was in a small room with a lot of doors. I got up quickly and looked around. I decided that I was going to look through all the doors to try and find an exit. I was terrified by what I saw through the first door I opened. There was Brianna, the one who hosted the party, with blood on her head. Her eyes were wide open and she didn’t move. I screamed and shut the door swiftly and hard. Then, I ran to another door and opened it. I saw the other Bri just standing there looking out the window at the moon. “Oh, Brianna! I’m so glad to see you’re fine!” I went up to her to hug her, but then she started to change. She turned around, her eyes were a bright yellow and her teeth turned huge and sharp! Scared, I ran to the other side of the room, but she cornered me. I was shaking with fear. I knew that this would be the end for me. I could already feel her breath on my neck about to tear it open.

“Do your worst!” I screamed at her.

I held my breath for a couple seconds, waiting for her teeth to sink in to my neck, and right at that moment, it happened… she started to LAUGH! I opened my eyes to see both of them laughing at me! “GOTCHYA!” they both said at the same time. “Whoa!” I yelled, “Wait a second! I thought you were dead, you were about to kill me and you disappeared!!!” I said to all of them. “HAHA! We got you good! This was all a trick!” yelled Brianna. “Happy Halloween!” yelled the other Brianna. “O.K. You guys got me, how did you guys get all that stuff to do this? And how long have you planned this?” I asked impatiently. Paige came closer and said, “Well, we first thought of this when we planned the party.” They all nodded. “We wanted to do this at Bri’s house, but this was much better!” said the other Bri. “Yes, I do think that this was really cool, but where did you get all of the stuff?” I asked. “Internet,” they all said at the same time. After we were done talking, we walked to Bri’s house and ate the rest of our candy. I will never forget that awesome Halloween trick!
