Congratulations to the students who attended the
70th annual State Music Competition
held at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville!
Ascension students brought home 25 trophies, 11 ribbons and
12 certificates of recognition!

Bell Choir

BELL CHOIR is available for grades 5-8. Rehearsals are Tuesdays from 2-2:50 as needed. Performances opportunities include Wednesday Mass, Home/School meetings, and Music Competitions.

MUSIC FEDERATION FESTIVAL
Recently Ascension students participated in the annual regional Music Federation Festival. All students received EXCELLENT and SUPERIOR ratings. Many students will be competing at the STATE Junior Festival on May 4 and 5.

MUSIC HONOR SOCIETY
Tri-Music Honor inductions were held on January 30th. Fourteen grade eight students were received into the National Music Honor Society.

MUSIC CLASS
Part of every Music class at Ascension concerns learning religious music, so that the students can participate more fully in the weekly school Liturgy. Here grade one is rehearsing the # 1 song at school "Awesome God." It's alot of fun, as the students learn movements to go with each song.

SOPRANO RECORDER
Grade 4 students are busy learning the SOPRANO RECORDER, the ancester of the FLUTE. Look for recorder performances at the Home and School meetings.

MIDDLE SCHOOL LITURGICAL ENSEMBLE
The Liturgical Ensemble plays at the weekly school Liturgy. Membership in this music group is offered to middle school students who can play guitar or percussion instruments.

BAND NEWS
During the month of February, the Ascension School Band will provide entertainment for the Good Sheperd Senior Organization on campus. Styles of music played were classical, jazz, rock 'n roll, and patriotic.

CHOIR NEWS
The School Choir rehearses once per week for Liturgy and the annual Choir Festival. Choir membership is offered to students in grades 4-8.

The Choir has been busy providing music for the weekly school liturgies since August. Currently there about 70 members from grades 4 through 8.

Students in grades 4 through 8 are eligible to audition for the Choir. Rehearsal are Tuesdays from 2:00 p.m - 2:50 p.m.

REMINDERS
It's not too late for Choir members from Grades 4 and 5 to order their CHOIR SHIRT!
