Welcome to Ascension's Fourth Grade!Dear Incoming Fourth Grade Students and Parents, During summer vacation it is very important to rest, have fun, and relax. It is also extremely important to keep your math and reading skills sharp. This year the summer reading requirement is to read the three grade-level books listed on the Required Summer Reading sheet, complete the writing assignment, and fill out the reading verification sheet. Please keep these papers and return them to your fourth grade teacher in August. You need to be proficient in your multiplication tables 0 – 12. You should be able to complete 100 problems in 5 minutes. Also, you must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers. Working on these skills during summer will help to make math go smoother throughout the year. To help you with this we are attaching three math sheets (problems on both sides). Please complete these and return them to your fourth grade teacher in August. We wish you a wonderful summer vacation and look forward to a great 2008 – 2009 school year. Sincerely, 4th Grade Required Summer ReadingRequired Reading: Students entering the fourth grade will need to read: Required Assignments: Writing- For the book, Five Stars for Emily, pretend you are the author and want to add one more chapter to the end of the book.
