Welcome to Third Grade!Supply List for incoming Third GradersScience Fair? Math Facts? Cursive? Letter Grades? Oh my! You must be going into third grade. Third grade is full of new experiences like content tests and letter grades, but it is full of excitement and fun things too. You will learn your multiplication facts and write everything in cursive. This will be a busy year. We will spend time with creative projects and units that provide imaginative and fun ways to gain knowledge. We will work on our skills of independence as we grow into individual learners. We will grow in God’s word and experience his love. We will work as a group to build a community of thinkers. We will broaden our intelligence as we learn from each other. Fasten your thinking caps on now. There is no time to waste. Here are some suggestions to ensure a successful year!
3rd Grade Required Summer ReadingAll incoming third graders need to read Hey, New Kid by Betsy Duffey. You are welcome to read this book with an adult if you find difficulty reading on your own. You will also need to read another book of your own choosing. We have listed some selected authors. Required Writing Assignments1. Writing- Write a letter to Cody Banks, main character of Hey, New Kid. In this letter ask three questions that you would like the main character to answer. Bring this letter to school as we will be sharing and answering the questions together. 2. Form- Write both books read on the verification form.
