Ascension Enrollment and Admission

A child may enroll for the Pre-Kindergarten program if he/she will be 4 years old on or before September 1 of the current school year.

A child may enroll for the Kindergarten program if he/she will be 5 years old on or before September 1 of the current school year.

A child may enter the first grade if he/she is 6 years old on or before September 1 of the current school year and has satisfactorily completed the Kindergarten program in a public or non-public school from which the district school board accepts transfer of academic credit.

All incoming students who are transferring from another school are required to take and pass an entrance test before they are enrolled at Ascension School.

A birth certificate as well as a health certificate, which includes an immunization certificate for prevention of communicable diseases required by the Health Department, must be presented before a child is admitted to class.

All children entering the public or private schools in Florida for the first time must be immunized against diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, poliomyelitis, rubella, rubeola, and HIB. All students must be in compliance with all health department regulations before they can enter the school.If you have any questions about which immunizations are required by the state of Florida, please contact your doctor or Ms. Stone in the school clinic. She may be reached by calling the school office.

Baptismal certificates are required for students preparing for the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, or Confirmation.

Waiting Lists for Enrollment

The school prioritizes the waiting list in the following manner:
  1. Currently enrolled students
  2. Siblings of Catholic enrolled students
  3. Staff members' children
  4. Registered supporting* parish members
  5. Siblings of non-Catholic enrolled children
  6. Registered members of other Catholic parishes
  7. Others

*Supporting means a registered parish member who attends mass regularly and is involved in the parish stewardship program of Time, Talent, and Treasury. Treasury means the regular use of envelopes (identifiable contribution)
