ASCENSION STUDENTS SCORE IN THE TOP 10% NATIONALLY IN
READING AND MATH
Ascension students scored in the top 10% of all schools
nationally who took the ITBS tests in reading and math. It is even more amazing
to note that these top 10% scores listed for the nation, are based on student
who were tested in the spring, whereas our students actually took the tests six
months earlier in the fall!
The following chart shows a more detailed look at our
students’ scores in grades 3 through 8.
The chart shows the IOWA test scores of the Ascension
students. The scores in each area are national percentiles. This can best
be seen as a comparison between Ascension students and all students who took
the same test nationally. The two scores in reading and mathematics that
are listed under "Top 10%" are scores the US Department of Education
have listed as being in the top 10% in the nation for the ITBS. For example,
look under 4th grade and notice the Ascension 4th graders have scored 89% in
reading. The US Department of Education states that a score of 74% or
higher in reading on this test would be in the top 10% nationally. These
"Top 10%" scores are provided by the US Department of Education to
assist schools in determining if they qualify for the Blue Ribbon Award.
